My students enjoyed taking part in different activities during this interesting project. They could learn how it is very important to help other people and children. They made Christmas decorations and sold them in order to help poor children. We also collected toys, picture books, clothes in order to make poor children happy before Christmas. We organized also a workshop in our class and they could haer everything about volunteering which is very important nowdays when lot of people need help and sometimes older people depend on volunteers, My students could also learn how it is very important to protect our environment and to plant trees. They have learnt that it is very important to show acts of kindness and to be tolerant. The message of this project for them was- BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD. They realizde that as individuals they can do a lot of useful things to help people who have problems and need their help and that they can make this world a better place. It is a video about a useful workshop about volunteering and about volunteering activities of the students from one secondary school iz Zagreb who have got a lot of experience in volunteering. When my students heard about all advantages of volunteering they showed more interest to become volunteers and help other people. It is our role of teachers to help them to become aware of all advantages they can have when they become volunteers, help other people and make them happy. in fact, they become aware that they are happy then too when they help somebody and we teach them in this way about empathy to understand other people in different situations and to help them to overcome their obstacles in their life. After that workshop when my students showed a great interest in volunteering I got an idea to promote volunteering in our school too and to take part in education for for teachers who want to promote volunteering and have a "volunteering club" at school. I am interested in this topic very much and I took part in the first part of this education and I am looking forward to next module. Last year, we helped sick children in remote parts of Australia taking part in one eTwinning project so that students sold the Christmas decorations at the Christmas fair at school sent them money. So, they have experience in similar projects and want to help more and become volunteers.
Before last Christmas we collected toys, books, clothes, sweets for poor children.
During the workshop about volunteering they could hear that the LEO KLUB TRI KULE ZAGREB organized humanitarian activities in order to help poor children and collect presents for them
and they were ready to take part in it and to make poor children happy for Christmas. It was a great experience for them and they were so happy to have an opportunity to help these children and make them happy.
In fact, it was the aim of our project Pay it forward to do acts of kindness to other people and show them that we are ready to help them and to give support in each situation.
